Bd. Haussmann is named after the genius who reconfigured Paris during the Second Empire, and is a wonderful example of his work. On this boulevard where Marcel Proust once lived you can find the magnificent department stores Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps, as well as the Jacquemart Andre Museum, a 19th century mansion with period furnishings and décor and a marvellous art collection.
Bd. Montmartre boasts the Grévin Wax Museum, founded 1882. Here you will find many familiar faces, as well as startlingly realistic scenes from the French Revolution. Then why not relax with a performance at the Theatre des Varietes, one of the city's leading theatres?
Bd. Poissonniere has the renowned Grand Rex cinema, the largest in Paris and a national monument. This 2,800 seat 1930s Art Deco gem with its starry ceiling and interior fountains has a charm all its own. Not far away is the Theatre des Nouveautes, built in 1921 and considered one of the most beautiful theatres in Paris.
Bd. des Italiens offers the Gaumont and UGC cinemas and some fabulous restaurants where you can dine in splendour before or after catching a movie or a show. Sound tempting?
