There’s a distinct air of collector’s items pervading our October news. We have an exhibitions of new collectibles, an exhibition of exquisite craftsmanship from the last 250 years and one of the most intriguing accumulations of vintage paper to be found anywhere in Europe. We are hoping that these catch your attention as they are the events we would like to recommend to you in this exciting exhibition and trade show season in Paris.
Paper, time and crystal await You in Paris
The Joel Garcia Organisation holds various contemporary art markets, trade shows, antique flea markets and book fairs throughout Paris and the Ile de France. The events the company arranges are always eagerly anticipated, and perhaps none more so than the Salon du Livre et Papiers Anciens. This gathering of paper collectible dealers, professionals and enthusiasts takes place at the Espace Champerret, a conference and exhibition hall on the western side of the city easily reached from Les Plumes Hotel.
Then we move on to the Carrousel du Louvre, a pleasant walk from our hotel. Here you will find the Salon Belles Montres and a trade show that brings us up to date with the very latest in fine watches and featuring the biggest name brands in the world. You don’t have to have time on your hands to be tempted by this one.
Finally we look at an exhibition celebrating 250 years of Baccarat crystal glassware. This gorgeous display takes place just a couple of miles south west of Les Plumes Hotel at the Petit Palais.
Book fair and old paper collectibles heaven
If you are a collector of old books, a stamps or postcards enthusiast, a cinema poster buff or a lover of comic books, you can find all these items and much more at the Salon du Livre et Papiers Anciens. This much loved trade show is dedicated to all manner of paper collectibles plus other small items and provides hours of fascination for the aficionado or even the casual browser. It all takes place at the Espace Champerret from October 24th to November 2nd, when nearly 80 dealers and exhibitors from all across France and beyond come together to tempt you with their wares.
Belles Montres; The international exhibition of fine watches
Each year the world’s greatest watchmakers and most prestigious brands gather in Paris for the highlight of the horological year, the Salon Belles Montres. This trade show for all interested in fine watches, whether in a professional capacity, as a consumer or a as a collector, offers a timely opportunity to find out what is new in the world of quality timepieces. The event takes place in the exhibition hall of the Carrousel du Louvre from November 21st to 23rd and will include various exhibitions, talks and presentations in addition to the many displays of the fine watchmaker’s art.
Celebrating 250 years of Baccarat; Crystal Legend
The name of Baccarat is known the world over for fine quality crystal ware. To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the company a new retrospective is presented at the Petit Palais from October 15th, the first such since 1964. Baccarat; Crystal Legend is a breathtaking display of exquisite craftsmanship, including such exceptional creations as dinner services created for royalty, emperors and maharajahs. You will also be able to see the Duchesse de Berry’s dressing table and chair, the Negus and Simon vases and a selection of stunning chandeliers, the largest of which gleams with some 250 lights.
