Nestled in the heart of the capital, Les Plumes Hotel is close to some of the city’s best shopping areas and top Parisian cultural venues. There are many options to explore in Montmartre before you return to the romantic setting of your room, and the programme for this October includes gospel and harvest at the Folies Bergères.
Music at the Folies
A truly exceptional musical is showing in the nearby Folies Bergères until 18th October. “Gospel Hill” takes us to the deep south of Louisiana in the 1950s where racial discrimination weighs heavily on the lives of black Americans and the voice of Martin Luther King is beginning to be heard. The show plunges us into 1954 where Pastor Gedeon has decided to build a church that will receive both blacks and whites. The project repels some, amazes others and entails overall acceptance or rejection. The requisite love interest is also there in a spectacular show that uses gospel, jazz and the blues to tell a story of conflict and alliance.
Grape harvesting Montmartre
After the cotton fields of Louisiana, climb the stairs of the Butte to see the ripening vines in the Montmartre vineyards. The 82th Harvest Festival of Montmartre will take place from October 7th to 11th and the earth and the protection of the environment in particular is the chosen theme for the 2015 edition. The programme includes tours, tastings, workshops, exhibitions, dances and choirs and of course, the opening of the harvest by the President of the Republic of….Montmartre. On Saturday evening, a magnificent fireworks display will light up the skies over Sacre Couer while the closing ball will feature music and rhythms from all over the world. Enjoy a moment of joy and sharing as you raise a glass to celebrate this unique harvest.
