Summer is coming and it’s going to be hot! The elegant Les Plumes Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the capital and we’ve come up with a few tips to help you stay cool.
Those not to be missed places
Expected by Parisians and a surprise for tourists; since 2002, Paris Plage has become the place to be when the thermometer starts to climb. From July 20 to August 21, the bank of the River Seine takes on the appearance of the French Riviera. Sand, deck chairs and colourful umbrellas are the order of the day. You’ll also find bars and cafes, entertainment areas, and playing fields for a variety of beach sports and games. Doze with a good book or make a sandcastle with the kids – there is something for everyone in the benevolent shade of Notre Dame. Plus, this year, Paris Plage has been extended to include the Bassin de la Villette. Another great Parisian way to cope with extreme heat is to enjoy a delicious Italian ice cream or sorbet from Grom! This famous address is just a few steps from Les Plumes Hotel and offers an infinite number of flavours that are all naturally prepared without colouring and preservatives
Games and water jets
More recent Parisian accomplishments that are sure to prove particularly enjoyable in summer include André Citroën Park in the fifteenth arrondissement and Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther King Park in the seventeenth. These two contemporary spaces focus on water in a major way. At André Citroën Park 120 spectacular water jets have been installed while at Batignolles the focus is on sustainability. Fountains and pools decorated with aquatic plants will create entire ecosystems that rely on fresh water. After exploring the water features you can relax on the extensive lawns while the kids take part in some of the many on-site activities. In Paris, the summer heat is an opportunity to discover exciting and charming new places. Try them all and then choose your favourites!
